We treat every furnace as a gas appliance first. That means combustion testing, a heat exchanger check and a careful look at the venting on every service call, because a furnace that runs is not the same thing as a furnace that is safe.
Signs your furnace needs attention
- The furnace clicks and hums but the burners never light
- Burners light, run for a few seconds and shut down
- Air from the registers is lukewarm or cold while the furnace runs
- The blower runs constantly, or never comes on after the burners fire
- Short cycling: on and off every minute or two
- A burning or metallic smell from the registers when the furnace starts

Furnace services we provide
Ignition repairs
Hot surface ignitors, spark ignitors, flame sensors, pilot assemblies and thermocouples on older standing-pilot units. These are the most common no-heat calls and are usually fixed from van stock.
Airflow and blower repairs
Blower motors, capacitors, belts on older units, inducer motors, pressure switches and the clogged condensate traps that keep a pressure switch from closing.
Heat exchanger inspection and CO safety
A cracked heat exchanger can let combustion gases, including carbon monoxide, into the air stream. We inspect and test on every furnace with overheating or a strange flame, and we are honest about what a cracked exchanger means for the unit.

High-efficiency furnace installation
Condensing furnaces with sealed combustion, PVC intake and exhaust venting, a properly trapped condensate drain and a right-sized blower for your ducts. We handle the gas piping, the venting, the permits and the inspection.
Standard-efficiency replacement
Where a metal flue shared with a water heater or a chimney liner is the right venting option, we install a conventional furnace and confirm the flue is sized correctly for what is left on it.
Furnace sizing
An oversized furnace short cycles and heats unevenly. We size by the house's actual heat loss, not the label on the old unit.

Tell us what the furnace is doing. We may ask you to check the filter, the thermostat or the switch on the side of the unit before we roll.

Diagnosis through the full sequence
We watch the furnace try to start, from thermostat call through inducer, pressure switch, ignition, flame proving and blower, and find where it fails.

Firm price, your approval
One by-the-job number for the repair. If the heat exchanger has failed or the furnace is not worth repairing, we give you a replacement price alongside it.

Repair, combustion test, safety check
After the repair we check gas pressure, combustion, temperature rise and venting, and make sure the furnace runs a full cycle without a fault.
Venting: the part of a furnace job that is easy to get wrong
When a high-efficiency furnace replaces an older unit that shared a metal flue with the water heater, the water heater is left alone on a flue that is now too big for it. The exhaust cools, condenses in the chimney and corrodes the liner, and in the worst case the water heater backdrafts into the basement. Part of every furnace replacement is checking what is left on the old flue and, when necessary, relining the chimney or changing how the water heater vents.
PVC venting on a condensing furnace has its own rules: pitch back toward the furnace so condensate drains, proper support, correct termination clearances from windows and the property line, and intake and exhaust arranged so the furnace does not breathe its own exhaust. Our installers follow the manufacturer's venting instructions and the town inspects the work.
